I love to read. It’s one of my favorite pastimes. My dream day always includes buying books, reading books, and drinking coffee! I am often asked what books I love, so I have created several lists of books that have encouraged me, pushed me to grow and given me hope. I encourage you to read them ALL. I often update this page, so continue to check back for new recommendations! You can also follow me on Instagram (@borderless57) to follow along with my reading list! Click on the headings below to check out the books I recommend.
Christian Life and Faith:
My belief in God and my identity as an image bearer shapes every decision I make in life. These are the books that have helped me learn who my Father is. They have helped me break free from the lies of the enemy. They have helped shape my prayer life. These are the books for everyday Christian living.
Anxiety and Fear:
Anxiety is an enemy I have battled for many years. Fear is an ugly monster that has lied to me and told me what to believe about myself and my God. However, as I have grown closer to the Father, I have learned that I have the power to tell fear it has to leave. Anxiety and fear do not have control over me and the choices I make. This is a list of books that have encouraged my heart as I have learned how to live in peace because of who my Father is. These books encourage me to be brave.
Unfortunately, because sin is in the world, many of us will walk through seasons of grief. While these seasons can be very dark, I believe we can grieve with hope, because of who our Father is. I also believe we can rest while we grieve, as the bible promises, the Father is close to the brokenhearted. This is a list of books that have encouraged my heart as I have grieved.
The word “theology” is defined as “the study of God and religious beliefs.” While I believe the Bible is the ultimate resource, these are the books that have helped me build what I believe. These are the books that have helped me understand and explain concepts that have been too big for me to understand before. These are books that have stretched me and made me think about the bible and God’s character in ways I never have before. Don’t let the word theology scare you away from reading these books. It’s important to read books that challenge us, because the more we understand Him, the better we represent Him.
Waiting and Infertility:
Dan and I have desired to be parents for a long time. It’s no secret that I spent several years not waiting well. I was impatient and often threw a fit, but have learned that waiting seasons can be a beautiful time with the Father. He has shown me so much favor and taught me so much about His character during our waiting years. Some of the books on this list are fertility related, however many of them are not. These are the books that have encouraged me and taught me how to wait with hope.
Work Life and Technology:
I work in a high intensity environment that requires technology. This is a list of books that have helped me learn how to love my coworkers well and manage my time spent on technology to use it well.
