Fourth Blogiversary

Last week, I quietly celebrated an anniversary… four years since I started this blog. A few weeks ago, when I started to think about what I would write about this anniversary, I went back and read the first words I ever posted in this space….

“In 2013, Hillsong United released a song called Oceans. The song spoke to the core of my heart, and I instantly started praying the words over our lives.

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior”

It’s funny when you pray something, because God always answers. Praying “spirit lead me where my trust is without borders” is not a prayer that should be prayed lightly. Since praying those words, God has asked Dan and I to do a lot of scary things. We have taken a lot of steps to grow our faith…and walk without borders. If I am being completely honest, writing a blog is one of the last things that I ever thought I would do. I have no idea what I am doing…. but lately, I feel like God has been asking me to step out of my comfort zone more. So yet again, I am choosing faith over fear… and letting the spirit lead me to a place that is borderless.”

It would be easy to say that the girl who wrote those words no longer exists, but that’s not really true at all. The girl who wrote those words has walked through so much life in the past four years and grown so much. That girl had no idea what she was doing when she started this space. I remember thinking I would share cute and funny stories of big faith. Every story would be wrapped in a bow that perfectly tied together a story. A completed story with a beginning, middle and end.

However, if you have followed along for any amount of time, you know that’s not what this space is. Sure, there have been cute stories, funny stories and faith filled stories. However, there have also been heart wrenching stories. Stories that are messy and complicated with no end in site. I still have no idea what I am doing here, but I find myself writing from the middle more and more. The place between the beginning and the end… that’s were life really happens. Writing from that place continues to call me to a place were my faith is borderless.

Today I want to thank you reader. Whether you have been around since that first day, if this is your first read, or if you fall somewhere in between…. thank you. Thank you for taking the journey with me in this space. Thank you for encouraging me to keep going. Thank you for sharing how the words impacted your heart. Thank you for laughing with me (and probably a lot of times at me).

However, I don’t want to stop at just thanking you. I also want to encourage you to do the thing that scares you. I don’t have to give examples here, you know what the thing is. I can’t promise you that it will ever get less scary, but I can promise you that the journey to grow your faith to a place that it has no borders it worth it.

In honor of my Fourth Blogiversary, I will be hosting a fun giveaway! Head over to my Instagram (@borderless57) before August 13th to check it out!
